Telangana to utilise Dummugudem project to water 4.9 lakh acres in Khammam
The Google survey for the project is complete
Khammam: The government will soon announce the re-design details of the Dummuguden Lift Irrigation Project.
As part of the project's re-design, the government plans to provide water to 4.90 lakh acre in the district by lifting Godavari water during monsoon in the Aswapuram mandal. It has decided to use Bayyaram and Palair as the balancing reservoirs apart from the Kinnerasani reservoir for this.
The capacity of Bayyaram and Palair will be improved and the Kinnerasani and Rollapadu reservoirs will be widened to pump more water through the lifts.
Silt at these reservoirs will be removed in the first stage. The water will travel about 212 km to reach Palair.
The Google survey for the project is complete and officials have sent a report to the government.
About 20 tmc ft water will be reserved in various reservoirs and different tanks for the project and water will be discharged to the fields of the respective areas immediately.
