Dadri lynching: UP government submits report to Centre, no mention of 'beef'
The report also mentions names of political leaders who visited Dadri after the killing
Lucknow: The Uttar Pradesh government has sent its report to the Union Home Ministry on the Dadri lynching episode in which a man was killed over rumours of alleged beef consumption. "The report based on factual basis has been sent to the Central government last night," a Home Department Spokesman said here on Tuesday.
Declining to divulge the contents of the report, he said it is based on facts collected on mob violence in the area. 50-year-old Ikhlaq was dragged out of his home by a 200-strong mob and beaten to death after a public announcement from the local temple that the family had slaughtered a calf and eaten its meat last Monday night in Bishada village.
Senior state officials including Principal Secretary (Home) Devashish Panda and DGP Jagmohan Yadav among others had visited the disturbed town soon after the incident.
On October 1, the Home Ministry had sought a report on the Dadri incident from Uttar Pradesh government and advised the state government to ensure that such incidents do not recur.
Concerned over communal incidents in Dadri and other places, the Centre had on Monday asked all states to take strictest action against those who attempt to weaken the secular fabric by exploiting religious emotions.
In a statement, the Home Ministry had said it was concerned over various incidents with communal overtones across the country including the recent "unfortunate" incident at Dadri in Uttar Pradesh where one person was lynched over rumours of eating beef.

Meanwhile, the family members of Ikhlaq, who was beaten to death in Dadri's Bishada village over rumours that he had stored beef at his residence, today demanded justice and urged all politicians not to politicise the issue.
"I never expected something like this, we were brought up in this village and everything was done with unity," Akhlaq's son Mohammed Sartaz told ANI. "I want to request all the political leaders not to politicise the issue. I appeal to the people to maintain the unity of the nation. All the problems that will come, we all should face them together," he added.
Uttar Pradesh Minority Welfare and Urban Development Minister Azam Khan had earlier said that he would take the issue of rampant communal violence in India to the United Nations and also appealed to Prime Minister Narendra Modi to stop those who are spreading violence and communalism across the country.
The leaders of various political parties have urged Prime Minister Modi to break his silence on the case.
Two main accused in the case, Shivam and Vishal, were arrested on Saturday, raising the total number of accused in the case to eight.
Fifty-year-old Mohammad Akhlaq was lynched and his son Danish (22) was beaten up for allegedly eating and storing beef on September 28.
