I have never evaded income tax: 'Puli' actor Vijay clears the air

The actor issued a statement rubbishing media reports that stated he had evaded income tax

Mumbai: 'Puli' star Vijay has denied allegations of tax evasion after the Income Tax Department officials raided his house along with other prominent film personalities a day before the release of his film. The actor released a statement regarding the income tax raid that took place last week. 

In a statement to media, Ilayathalapathy Vijay said, “Income tax sleuths carrying out searches in the homes and offices of notable personalities is a long-followed, natural practice. Last week, a raid was carried out at my office and home to probe whether I have evaded tax. My family members and staff cooperated and presented all the documents of my income tax returns. I have been religiously paying income tax on all my assets till this very financial year.”

The actor expressed sadness and also rubbished media reports that stated he had evaded income tax. Vijay has also requested all media to stop spreading false stories about him not paying income tax for years together. Here is his full statement in Tamil:
