16-year-old mentally unstable girl raped by two youths in Delhi

The victim has been provided counselling to help her recover from the trauma

New Delhi: A 16-year-old mentally unstable girl was allegedly raped by two youths in Keshavapuram area of north-west Delhi, police said on Wednesday.

The incident took place yesterday when the girl had gone to a local eatery at around 4.30 pm.

The two accused Mohammad Abid and Mohammad Shamsuddin, both 22 years, who worked at the eatery lured the girl and took her to a desolate place near railway lines in Keshavpuram area and allegedly raped her behind bushes, said a senior police officer.

The girl narrated her trauma to family members who contacted police.

One of the accused was caught soon while the other accused was arrested while trying to flee to his home state, said the officer.

An FIR under relevant Sections of IPC and POCSO Acts has been registered at Keshavpuram police station. The medical examination of the girl has been conducted and she was also provided counselling to help her recover from the trauma, added the officer.
