Belagavi not so smart in sharing its vision on MyGov.in
The number of submissions on October 5 for Belagavi was a mere 182
Belagavi: Inspite of continued efforts by the district administration to involve people of Belagavi region in the upcoming Smart City Project, the city lags behind Hubballi-Dharwad and Mangaluru in terms of people sharing their vision on MyGov.in, a platform that connects people with the government.
After collecting people's ideas and suggestions besides formulating its own plan of action, the respective administration is supposed to submit its Smart City Proposal (SCP) for implementation of the Smart City project. As on October 5, Hubballi-Dharwad was on top of the table as far as people’s participation is concerned with more than 1280 submissions by people of the twin cities.
A tremendous response has been given by people in both cities for the campaign for Smart City on MyGov.in
Considering the efforts and campaigns being launched in Belagavi by officials to gain people’s support, the submissions by people for Smart City is far lesser at 420, the latest figure.
The number of submissions on October 5 for Belagavi was a mere 182. Mangaluru has about 576 submissions while Shivamogga, Davangere and Tumakuru fared poorly. Tumakuru had a mere 17 submissions compared to 28 of Davangere and 88 of Shivamogga.
A series of workshops and meetings are being held in Belagavi ahead of district administration's plans to draw up an effective SCP. Besides getting people's suggestions through its website, the government is also encouraging people to submit written submissions about what works to be taken up under Smart City project.
Basically, the government aims at collecting information from all quarters to prepare an effective SCP. Based on the effectiveness of SCP, sources said, the Centre is planning to release its first list of cities where the project will be implemented in the first phase. It has become a challenging task for every district district administration in these cities to ensure that they get a place in the first list.
