Hyderabad: Chief Electoral Officer for AP and Telangana, Bhanwar Lal on Tuesday said that he has not yet received any lists of voters whose names were wrongly deleted from the voters list in GHMC limits. “I had clearly told all the political parties to submit the lists of people whose names they think were wrongly deleted from electoral rolls. However, I did not get any list of from any party. I will pursue the issue with them because no genuine voter should be left out,” Mr Bhanwar Lal said.

He was referring to Opposition parties’ protests that 6.3 lakh names were deleted from electoral rolls in GHMC limits and sending of show cause notices to another 19 lakh people on deleting their names from rolls. The opposition parties had claimed that the deletions were mostly in 300 booths in seven divisions where the ruling MLA does not belong to the TRS. They pinned the blame on GHMC commissioner Somesh Kumar.

When asked if any action will be taken against booth level officer if a name was found to be wrongly deleted, Mr Bhanwar Lal  said that their services will be terminated. The Opposition leaders had also alleged that show cause notices sent by Election Commission were not received by many voters. To this the CEO said that as notices were sent to addresses mentioned in the voters list and not to address where the voter might have shifted. He said that notification for Warangal and Narayankhed byelections will be released before November 5.
