Indrani was disturbed after she learnt about her mother’s death: report
Indrani was discharged after doctors declared her fit to be taken to jail
Mumbai: The main accused in the Sheena Bora murder case, Indrani Mukerjea, who had been hospitalized for four days after she fell unconscious in jail on October 2, told the police that she was slightly disturbed on learning about her mother’s death.
Indrani was questioned in connection with the ongoing probe to determine if there were any lapses or foul play leading to her falling unconscious in jail. Her statement about circumstances under which she fell unconscious last Friday was recorded at 10 pm in the presence of doctors.
JJ Hospital dean Dr T.P. Lahane confirmed that Indrani had been discharged after being treated for four days. “Neurologists, physicians, physiologists and psychiatrists kept an eye on her. After consulting heads of all four departments, we declared her fit and informed the police department. Thereafter, we discharged her at around 5.30 pm,” Dr Lahane said.
According to an Indian Express report, a source was quoted as saying, “On Thursday night, she learnt through the jail staff about her mother’s death. She was taken aback and did not eat properly.”
Indrani has been in judicial custody since last month. The 43-year-old fell unconscious in jail due to suspected drug overdose and was rushed to the state-run medical facility five days ago.
An officer from the department said Indrani would now be kept in isolation. Earlier, the barrack was shared by Indrani with around 40 inmates.
