Kerala: Student ends life allegedly for using mobile phone

KALPETTA: Rasnamol, 17, a ‘Plus-Two’ student of SKMJ Higher Secondary School, Kalpetta, allegedly committed suicide at the Sports Council Hostel on Tuesday, according to police.
The girl, daughter of Shyju and Ancy of Kanamvayal, Kannur, was studying on sports quota. She was found hanging from the roof of the room around 11. 30 a.m.
Earlier in the morning, she was allegedly scolded by the hostel warden for keeping a mobile phone despite an order against it.
One of the trainers, Jinni Varghese, told reporters that she was depressed after the mobile was taken away by the warden.
She was also quizzed about the source of money to buy the phone and her parents were informed about the incident.
