MALAPPURAM: The Palakkad crime detachment team on Tuesday arrested former (retired) Malappuram deputy director of education, K.C. Gopi   in connection with the suicide of Munniyur Higher Secondary School teacher K.K. Aneesh. Mr  Gopi  surrendered before  DySP Mohammed Kasim and was remanded  in custody.

The investigation team has  already arrested  school manager V.P. Seydalavi, PTA president K.T. Haiderali and  headmistress Sudha P. Nair.

The investigation team had found out prima facie evidence that suggested victimization of  Aneesh and creation of forged documents to level charges against him, leading to his dismissal from the service.

Mr Gopi, who was then the DDE of Malappuram,  connived with the school manager and took part in the conspiracy to remove Aneesh from service. He had also forged the documents to prove the charges against the teacher.

Aneesh committed suicide at a lodge in Malambuzha in September last  after he was dismissed from  service.

In his suicide note, he had described the roles of the school manager, DDE and others that led to his  condition.

The case was handed over to the crime detachment recently.  Three more accused in the  case are absconding.
