HyderabadAgriculture minister Pocharam Srinivas Reddy said on Tuesday that the government was considering waiving the remaining 50 per cent of farm loans in one go. He said the TRS government had already waived 50 per cent farm loans as promised but AP Chief Minister Chandrababu Naidu had not waived even 30 per cent yet, but the TD-BJP were silent on the issue.

“Our goal is a farmers’ suicide-free Telangana. TRS government has launched several measures to help farmers. We have decided to pay Rs 6 lakh ex gratia to the kin of farmers who commit suicide, which is the highest in the country. We gave ample time to the Opposition in Assembly, clarified all doubts, yet for political survival, they are indulging in protests,” he alleged.

The agriculture minister said the government would stand guarantee for clearing farm loans up to Rs 1 lakh with interest and no farmer had to worry about the same since the orders had been issued and instructions sent to the concerned banks. “Chief Minister K. Chandrasekhar Rao is committed to the welfare and development of farmers and is striving towards a Bangaru Telangana. Opposition parties are deliberately creating a ruckus since the government is solving pending issues one by one,” he said.

“They turned the state into a desert, neglected it and are now shouting from the rooftops. People don’t believe them anymore. TS government is answerable to farmers and Telangana people. We are committed to their welfare and towards achieving Bangaru Telangana. Let them play politics” he remarked. Questioning the TD yatra in Ts , he said they should undertake a yatra in AP since the government there had failed to implement promises made to farmers and others.
