BENGALURU: In yet another sexual assault shocker in the city, three men — two BPO employees and their van driver — were sodomised by three drunk private cab drivers at Ragigudda in South Bengaluru on September 30 morning.

Mico Layout police have arrested all the three accused — two named Kiran and the other Sathish —  and booked them under Sections 394 (voluntarily causing hurt in committing robbery), 364 (Kidnapping), 341 (Wrongful restrain) and 377 for carnal intercourse against the order of nature. The two accused were in an Indica car, while their other associate was in a Mahindra Logan cab.

Mr Obalesh, ACP from the Mico Layout subdivision, said that the alleged incident took place at around 3.30 am on September 30. “The two survivors were on their way to work to Devarachikkanahalli in a Tempo Traveler attached to a BPO from BTM Layout. Their van brushed against the Indica cab in which two accused were travelling. The two accused approached the van driver, picked up a quarrel with him and charged him with using high beam lights.”

Soon an altercation ensued and all the three accused, who are aged around 25, boarded the van and demanded money for the damages. That was when the two BPO staffers intervened and tried to pacify them. “Satish then snatched a silver ring, silver bangle and Rs 2,300 cash from the BPO staffers. The two men commandeered the van to an ATM in Ragigudda. When the two survivors told them that they did not have money, the accused stripped them naked, took out a leather belt from one of the victim’s pants and beat them on their private parts.”

Sources in the police department said that the three men in the van were also sodomised. The accused later drove the van to M.S. Palya, from where they fled in their car, the police officer said. After the sexual assault and robbery, the survivors rang a friend, who picked them up from Ragigudda. They went back to Mico Layout and lodged a complaint with the police.

“In their initial complaint, they mentioned only robbery. The survivors were scared about the social stigma attached to the incident and were initially uncomfortable with disclosing the full nature of the crime. It was only after the arrests and much reassurance that the three gave their statements and confirmed that they were sexually assaulted by the two accused,” said another senior police officer.

DCP Rohini Katoch Sepat said, “One of the victims has given a further statement pointing to Section 377 of IPC (Carnal intercourse against the order of nature). He has been subjected to medical examination and the report is waited.”
