Thiruvananthapuram: Good samaritans rescue trapped teen
People ignore boy trapped between train, platform
Thiruvananthapuram: A youngster who fell down from the Vanchinad Express at Kazhakkoottam railway station on Tuesday evening was saved from the jaws of death by M. Sreekanth, a VSSC employee. He along with a young woman, Divya, a Technopark employee, pulled out Sreedev who was trapped between the train and the platform even as dozens of passengers just watched. The boy is currently recuperating at Thiruvananthapuram medical college.
The train had reached Kazhakkoottam railway station only by 6.15 pm, late by 20 minutes. Sreekanth, hailing from Kayamkulam, along with his wife Raji, who is also an employee of VSSC, had boarded the train from Kazhakkoottam when the teenager who was standing next to the door hit the platform where work was going on.
Sreekanth told DC, “Though many passengers saw the teenager falling, none assisted me. I was pleading for several minutes when a brave woman came forward to help me,” he said.
At that time, he was not aware of the identity of the woman. Sreekanth recal-led that when they saved Sreedev from between the platform and the train, he was conscious. Sreedev belongs to Attingal and is an ITI student.
