Unlike other movies which are premiered to celebrities, the upcoming film Maiem which has the tagline ‘Against ATM Murder’, is based on real life incidents and is produced by noted artist AP Sreethar, a long time associate of Kamal Hassan. It will have a red carpet premiere for the students of various colleges in the city.

Apparently, the movie’s entire crew, including its debut director Adithya Bhaskaran and music composer Kashif Rafiq (nephew of AR Rahman) are all students studying various courses in the city. The plot of Maeim deals with the safety of our money vending ATM outlets and is related to a crime that took place inside an ATM centre recently.

Though the story has been credited to Sreethar, ask him why he chose a newcomer to direct instead of himself, he says, “I felt youngsters would have a fresh and unique approach to anything. They are fearless to voice their opinions. I met Adithya, a student from an engineering college and was highly impressed with his short films. Hence, I selected him.”

He adds, “Maiem narrates the story of six characters trapped in a challenging situation. It is a mocktail that combines elements like claustrophobia, romance and comedy.” Actor-director Parthiban has provided the opening and closing voiceover of Maeim.
