2 farmers commit suicide in Guntur
The Macharla police said that Naik owns two acres of farmland
Guntur: Two tenant farmers committed suicide in two separate incidents in Guntur district on Friday. According to Ponnur police, U. Sunil Kumar 27, of Nidubrolu was a tenant farmer and cultivated various crops but incurred losses. Unable to bear debts, Sunil consumed poison on October 7. His family members shifted him to local hospital but due to deterioration of his condition, doctors advised to shift him to Guntur. Sunil died while being shifted to Guntur on Friday morning.
In another incident, tenant farmer Bisalwath Sahu Naik, 43, committed suicide by consuming pesticide in his farmland at Hasnabad village of Macharla mandal.
The Macharla police said that Naik owns two acres of farmland and taken seven acres for lease. He cultivated cotton in the nine acres but incurred huge losses due to damage to the crop. Unable to bear the debts, Naik committed suicide.
