Srinagar: Independent MLA Sheikh Abdur Rashid, who was thrashed by BJP members in the Jammu and Kashmir Assembly on Thursday for his hosting a ‘beef party’, took to the streets in Srinagar on Friday. Mr Rashid was joined by dozens of supporters who were detained later.
A complete bandh was observed in Udhampur, Kathua and Reisi after a strike call was given by various Hindu organisations to protest against the slaughter of cows in Udhampur and the beef party held by MLA Rashid. All business establishments, private schools and colleges in all the three districts remained closed and traffic also remained off roads to support the strike call.
