Thrissur: A robbery attempt took place  at the ATM counter of Kerala Gramin Bank at Koratty near here on Friday morning. Police said that  though the security box of the machine was found broken, no money had been taken away by the culprits.
 
Bank officials said that they had deposited Rs 75,000 in the machine on Thursday and the balance after the reported robbery attempt was Rs 55,900.
 
The CCTV camera at the counter was found damaged. The incident came to light after a customer found the broken security box  on Friday morning.
 
Recently, a State Bank of India ATM was robbed of Rs 26 lakh  at Kokkalai in Thrissur.  In another  burglary attempt at an SBT counter at Kolazhi near the town,  the burglars tried to decamp with the ATM machine.
 
Robbers had also looted 500 sovereigns of gold and Rs 50 lakh  worth of diamonds from the  house of an NRI businessman  at Vadakkekkad near Guruvayur.
