Vijayawada: To mark the International Egg Day in the city, a unique rally was conducted on Friday by the members of National Egg Coordination Committee (NECC) for the first time to create awareness on egg consumption among youth. Zilla Parishad chairperson Gadde Anuradha flagged off the rally and later released balloons with a message calling all the residents to take at least two eggs a day. Several youth from various colleges and health experts participated in big numbers in the rally from IGMC stadium to Siddhartha Degree College.

Joint secretary of animal husbandry, Government of India, Sanjay Bhoose Reddy said NECC has selected Vijayawada city for the World Egg Day campaign in South India for the first time and the response from the youth was appreciable.

Ms Anuradha requested all youth and residents to include egg in their daily meal and further said having two eggs a day will keep one free from infirmity.
