Bandh flops in Hyderabad, partial in rest of Telangana

Most shops and business establishments were open all over the city

The Centre has selected four cities from Andhra Pradesh and five from Telangana to be developed as smart cities

Hyderabad: The city was unaffected by Saturday’s Telangana bandh called by the Opposition parties seeking farm loan waiver, and the impact elsewhere in the state was partial. The bandh had some effect in districts like Adilabad, Warangal and Karimnagar.

Most shops and business establishments were open all over the city, Schools were closed after the government declared Bathukamma and Dasara holidays. 

Police arrested Opposition leaders TS TD president L. Ramana, BJP floor leader K. Laxman and hundreds of activists who had gathered early in the day at RTC depots to block buses. Following this, buses remained largely unaffected. The agitators were detained at Goshamahal and Bolaram police stations in the city.
