BSF recovers heroin worth Rs 30 crore from international border
This year, the BSF has recovered 213 kg heroin along the International Border
Jalandhar: Six kilograms of heroin, worth around Rs 30 crore in international market, was seized today by the BSF personnel when Pakistani smugglers were trying to push the contraband near the M P Bais border outpost along the international border in Ferozepur sector.
During routine patrolling early this morning along the border outpost, jawans noticed that Pakistani smugglers were pushing a pipe inside the Indian territory, BSF Punjab Frontier DIG, R S Katariya said.
When the personnel challenged the smugglers, they got ignored it but when jawans opened fire, they fled from the spot taking benefit of the darkness, he said.
BSF personnel searched the spot and seized six packets of heroin, each containing one kg of the drug, worth around Rs 30 crore in the international market, he said, adding also found a Pakistani mobile handset and a sim card were found from the spot.
This year, the BSF has recovered 213 kg heroin along the International Border area from across the state.
In the last two days, this is the second time when heroin was seized along the international border in the area.
