Coimbatore prison receives threat letter from Al-Qaeda through new outfit

On top of the letter was the outfit's name, 'The Base Movement'

Coimbatore: The Central Prison in Coimbatore received a threatening letter allegedly from Al-Qaeda which was sent through an outfit identified as 'The Base Movement', police said.

The letter addressed to the Jail Superintendent, had wordings "continuous encroachment, distressed prisoners. closed eyes of government, inarticulate justice and court.

Tamil Nadu will be resonance. Our mission started, count your days," police said.

The letter carries the Indian map, with all states except Jammu and Kashmir and has the photograph of Osama Bin Laden at the bottom, with Al Qaeda written in English and Arabic language, they said.

On top of the letter is the outfit's name, 'The Base Movement'.

The letter was posted from Ukkadam in the city a couple of days ago and has a fake address on the envelope.

A case has been registered and investigations are on. The Base Movement could be a new outfit which has been never heard of, police added.d.
