Hyderabad: Palliative Care and also End-Stage Life Care in India are not yet developed, stated  experts on World Hospice and Palliative Day Care Day observed on Saturday.

End-stage-life care is seeing a lot of demand in terms of care-takers who can help the family members cope with the stress and also deal professionally with care. Experts in the city explained that these aspects were at a budding stage in the city and required a strong and clear view from the government due to the aging population in the city.

Dr S.V.S. S. Prasad, senior consultant medical oncologist explained, “We need a proper system-based out-patient care for the patients which is effective and also empowers families to take care of their patients at home. At the same time, the government must work with insurance companies to provide insurance for palliative care. This is important because the treatment is expensive and an affordable care will ensure that people take care of their dear ones till their end-stage.”
