Malappuram: Wife hired man to take out hubby

MALAPPURAM: In a major development related to the murder investigation of Vinod Kumar, at Valanchery, the police has arrested his family friend Mohammed Yusuf, 52 on Saturday morning. Police have also registered a case against Jyothi, wife of Vinod, for conspiring to kill her husband.

Yusuf was arrested from Elamakkara while Jyothi will be arrested after she gets discharged from hospital.

Vinod , a gas agency owner, was found hacked to death on Friday morning. He had multiple injuries after bei-ng hacked 26 times while asleep. Jyothi, 50, who was found by neighbours in a pool of blood, was admitted to hospital with serious injuries. About '3.5 la-kh and an Innova was stolen from the house.

According to police, Jyothi asked Yusuf to kill her husband, She reportedly asked him to cut his throat so it would like a robbery.  Apparently Jyothi was upset about Vinod’s affairs.

They were not legally married but have a son.  But Vinod recently married a woman from Kundara and they have two children. Jyothi thought t-hat the children would become Vinod’s heirs.

An orphan, Jyothi was adopted by an Italian family when she was just 10.  Jyothi is very rich and Vinod used her money to sta-rt his own businesses.

Valancheri Inspector K.G. Suresh said Jyot-hi warned Vinod several times about his affairs but, he refused to stop. Yusuf also had a personal vendetta against Vinod. “Jyothi offered one of her 7 flats in Kochi to Yusuf to kill Vinod,” police said.
