Something toxic in the air: Rajdeep Sardesai
If BJP won these forces would believe their views had gained strength
THIRUVANANTHAPUrAM: Noted journalist Rajdeep Sardesai on Saturday said there was something toxic in the air which makes certain forces believe that they can do anything and get away with it.
Speaking exclusively to DC on the sidelines of Kovalam LIterary Festival held in memory of K C John, Rajdeep said that it was not if communal incidents had not taken place before and Dadri is first such case. But the manner in which these forces feel empowered today was worrying.
“Prime Ministers do not feel the necessity to respond to every issue. I will give him that. But this is also a PM who tweets when Navjot Singh Sidhu is in hospital and says get well soon Sidhu. He will go to San Francisco, travel across the world, but not Dadri which is just an hour away from National capital,” he said
Rajdeep said by remaining silent PM had given some kind of license to Sangh Parivar to pursue its agenda on beef ban, ghar wapsi and Love jihad.
“Remember he went to Mohan Bhagwat to give a report card of his government along with his ministers,” he said.
On Bihar poll outcome, Rajdeep said certain forces might get desperate if Nitish won. If BJP won these forces would believe their views had gained strength.
On Modi; “Fundamentally Modi remains the same. A political strategist with an authoritarian streak. Is he graduating to become a statesman like PM ? I don’t think so.”
