Amitabh Bachchan to lend voice to 'Beauty And The Beast'

The makers wanted somebody to match up to the scale and grandeur of the show

Mumbai: Amitabh Bachchan, even at 73 doesn't lack the zest and meticulousness which comes as a part of acting. The actor who has lent his voice for several projects earlier, has been roped in to record the prologue to the show- Beauty and the Beast. 

Apparently, the makers of Disney India's first Broadway-style musical wanted somebody to match up to the scale and grandeur of the show. It was upon Siddharth Roy Kapur to bring Amitabh on board. When Siddharth approached the actor, he made him listen to the prologue from the original Broadway production and Amitabh readily agreed to do it. 
 
This is a new and explored format of entertainment in India. Over 100 of the best musical theatre performers will bring the story of Beauty and the Beast alive on stage, with world class production values, lavish sets and gorgeous costumes. The production will be in English at 130 minutes in duration, with select shows across Mumbai and Delhi from October to December 2015.
 
The classical story revolves around Belle, a young woman in a provincial town, and the Beast, who is really a young prince trapped in a spell placed by an enchantress. If the Beast can learn to love and be loved, the curse will end and he will be transformed to his former self.
