Tullur cheruvu to have first entertainment park in capital:
The Tullur cheruvu will have the first walking track and water entertainment park in AP’s new capital Amaravati. An ancient temple, which is on the banks of the pond, will become a spiritual centre, if everything goes according to CRDA's plans. The Singapore planners have proposed entertainment/amusement parks and waterfront amusements on the banks of the Krishna River and two entertainment parks on the Kondaveeti Vagu.
The Yerramasu family had donated land several decades ago to construct a pond to fulfil the drinking water needs of Tullur. Over the years, however, with availability of protected drinking water, the pond was unused and filled with waste. Recently, under the pond cleansing programme of the state government, the Tullur pond was cleaned and thanks to the rains, its water restored.
Urged by locals to develop the pond, Guntur joint-collector Ch. Sridhar had brought the issue to the notice of CRDA commissioner N. Srikanth and a decision was taken to develop a walking track and entertainment centre here.
According to the CRDA officials, Rs 90 lakh will be needed to start a boating facility and walking track on the banks of the pond. Local leader Mr D. Srinivasa Rao said the ancient temple on the banks of the pond would be the main attraction, and boating and the walking track would be beneficial for the public. Local residents Mr K. Bangaraiah and others expressed their happiness about the Tullur pond getting a makeover and thanked the government.
