KOZHIKODE: The young entrepreneurs from Wayanad have developed a unique power generation model with the help of the KSEB. The floating solar power generating model that could be used at the hydro-electric project sites was first installed at Banasurasagar dam.

Vatsaa Tech Private Limited, headed by Ajay Thomas, developed the model at the Start Up Village at Kalamassery a year ago to bring in innovative ideas in the sector.

Ajay said they wanted to  develop a project better than the models developed by Tata Power, with a capacity to adapt to the changing water levels in the reservoirs.

“KSEB officials were impressed with our ideas and permitted us to install the first model with the financial and  other  support of the KSEB,” he said.  Ajay also claims that the solar model will use the world’s first-ever floating concrete platform.

“The model is different from what is available in the market both in terms of working and design. Ours  can withstand sudden water level changes in dam reservoirs, which is even appreciated by the higher officials of KSEB,” he said.

The company  plans to implement more such projects in the state with the support of the KSEB. It also plans to manufacture economic energy briquettes from domestic wastes that could act as a replacement for fossil fuels.
