Gionee to roll out handset in Visakhapatnam today

Gionee will launch it’s first Made in India phone at Vizag on Monday

VisakhapatnamChinese handset company, Gionee, will launch it’s first Made in India phone at Vizag on Monday. Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu will launch Gionee’s phone in the presence of Gionee president William Lu and the company's country head Arvind R. Vohra. 
 
Gionee has recently started manufacturing it's phones in India at Taiwan-based Foxconn’s manufacturing facility at Sri City in Chittoor in AP. Gionee also has tied up with Dixon Technologies (India) Private Limited to roll out India manufactured phones at Noida in Uttar Pradesh.  After Xiaomi its Gionee which has chosen Vizag to launch their first Made in India, phones.
 
Foxconn will make Gionee's F and P series of smart phones at it’s Sri City’s manufacturing facility. Both the manufacturing facilities can roll out around 1.2 million handsets per month. After China, Gionee has largest market presence in India and considers it as an important market. Gionee has also presence in Bangladesh, Nigeria, Vietnam, Taiwan, Myanmar, Thailand and Philippines.
 
“It’s evident that global handset companies are now looking at India to manufacture their handsets giving a thrust to Make in India campaign, and for them in India, Andhra Pradesh is the destination. After Xiaomi, it’s now Gionee which is going to manufacture made in India handsets in AP,” said a senior official of the industries department, which has been coordinating the handset launch event.
