Kalam ‘Sathya Jothi’ reaches Tiruchy

TIRUCHY: “The Sathya Jothi 2020,” a torch rally organised by Namakkal-based advertisement agency, Mukil Media, which commenced at Chennai on September 27, to spread the principles and ideology of former President Dr A.P.J. Abdul Kalam arrived here on Saturday. 
 
The rally organisers have designed a mini-lorry displaying portraits of Dr Kalam and his memorable quotes on India ‘Vision 2020’. The rally will culminate at Peikarumbu near Rameswaram on October 15, the birthday of Dr Kalam. Ramesh, a volunteer told media persons that they have covered Vellore, Salem, Namakkal, Erode, Tirupur, Coimbatore and Tiruchy so far, and before they reach Peikarumbu on October 15, where the late President was laid to rest, they will cover Thanjavur, Madurai and Tirunelveli. He said that the vehicle stopped at educational institutions and they were distributing handbills and pledge forms for youth and students to take a pledge on national integration, time management, afforestation and patriotism. These forms were to be placed in a drop box kept in the vehicle, he added.
 
According to R. Thiyagarajan, campaign co-ordinator, the campaign will be an annual event and a website has been launched for providing details on www.apjkalamsathyajothi2020.com, he said.
