Kerala Varma college PTA worried over academics
Several teachers and nearly 50 parents took part in the meeting and shared their views
Thrissur: A plan of action to maintain discipline in the Sree Kerala Varma College here was discussed by the Parents Teachers Association (PTA) on Sunday. After a week-long closure following the beef fest row, the college will reopen on Monday.
Several teachers and nearly 50 parents took part in the meeting and shared their views. They said that the ‘beef fest’ row, the violence that followed and the controversial Facebook post of Deepa Nishant, assistant professor of the college, were a closed chapter. Ms Deepa did not turn up for the meeting.
Most of the parents who spoke at the meeting said that the college authorities and PTA should focus more on the discipline and effort should be made to find more funds for enhancing the facilities in the college.
They said that the Cochin Devaswom Board (CDB) that manages the college should sanction '40 lakh to renovate the college, or else the government should take over the college.
“The disciplinary committee of the college, which is a statutory body, will contact the parents of all the students who were involved in the clashes and initiate action against them,” principal C.M. Latha told DC.
