In the last 11 days, city sees 76 per cent more rainfall
HYDERABAD: Several areas in the city were inundated following the heavy rainfall on Saturday night. Roads in many places were inundated and traffic came to a standstill for a few hours. The rain is expected to continue for a few days, according to an IMD weather prediction.
Weather office said Saroornagar recorded 4 cm rainfall. Begumpet and Golconda too recorded almost 4 cm rainfall. The rest of the district saw moderate showers.
In the last 11 days, Hyderabad has seen 76 per cent ‘more than normal’ rainfall. The showers on Saturday night battered the city in such a way Yousufguda, Nadeem Colony, Dilsukhnagar, Malakpet, Kaladera, Saidabad, Saroornagar, Mayuri marg, Shamlal building, Karkhana, Ameerpet and other low lying areas were inundated.
“Water-logging and stagnation points were observed at several locations including Bible House, AS Rao Nagar, Kavadiguda stretch, the Neredmet-Safilguda Road, several bylanes in Tolichowki and Mehdipatnam, among others,” IMD said in a release.
The rainfall is expected to continue for a few days. Its forecast for the next 48 hours for the twin cities is, “Sky condition would be generally cloudy. Rain or thundershowers would occur in parts of the city.
