Chandrababu Naidu collects soil and water for construction of new capital

Hyderabad: Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu on Tuesday collected soil and water from his native village in Chittoor district as part of his government's plan to involve all villages of the state in foundation stone-laying ceremony for its new capital.

Naidu visited Naravari palle village for the purpose. The state government has launched a programme of collecting water and soil from all the villages in the state and carrying it to Vijayawada-Guntur region where foundation stone would be laid for capital city Amaravati on October 22 by Prime Minister Narendra Modi.

According to state government officials, the soil and water should be worshipped at local temples, churches and mosques before sending them to the capital region.

The soil and water, thus gathered from all over the state, would be used in construction of capital city.

The government has "pooled" more than 33,000 acres of land for capital development under its "land pooling scheme" which offers benefits like share in developed land to the land owners.
