Chaos in Bihar as Ajay Devgn waves and disappears
The police had to resort to lathi-charge to quell the mob
The sleepy little town of Biharsharif woke up on Tuesday to the news that Ajay Devgn would be coming to town to campaign for the Bharatiya Janta Party for the Bihar Assembly elections.
Little did they know that the day would be one filled with chaos and mob violence, as the star did not show up on time.
A local source says, “Ajay Devgn was supposed to arrive in Biharsharif at 10.30 am. He finally showed up at 1 pm. By then the crowds had gone completely berserk, pelting stones, breaking chairs and shouting slogans. The police had to resort to lathi-charge to quell the mob.”
Finally Devgn did show up in a chopper. But the best was yet to come. Apparently on being informed of the chaotic situation, the Singham superstar simply waved at the expectant crowds below and flew off.
Says the source, “The security bandobast had collapsed completely. Ajay didn’t land in Biharsharif. He left on his chopper without landing, not willing to take the risk of facing the angry crowd.”
This was Devgn’s second aborted political rally in Bihar. Last Friday he had to turn back from another Bihar town, Lakhisarai, without addressing the expectant crowds.
A source from the BJP party describes Devgn’s Bihar experience as very unfortunate. “If a star of Ajay Devgn’s stature was to campaign it was the local administration’s responsibility to ensure his safety. Alas, everyone in Bihar was too busy playing politics to care about the superstar’s safety. One can’t blame him for fleeing the scene.”
