THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: The  KPCC leadership has been struggling to settle the  differences between  the partymen  and the  allies over the seat allocation for the local elections with just a day  remaining to file the nomination papers.

Though Chief Minister Oommen Chandy, KPCC president V. M. Sudheeran and Home Minister Ramesh Chennithala are trying to sort out the issues,  the allies have asked  their candidates to  file their nominations by Wednesday.

Youth Congress leaders have complained that they were not given the seats  promised to them by Mr  Sudheeran. As the previous women reservation wards have been changed to general wards,  male candidates have made a beeline troubling the  DCCs.

“The KPCC leadership is yet to project the mayor candidate in Kochi and Thrissur which are women reservation wards,”  said a Congress leader.

A UDF leader alleged that the Congress leaders had  already started working in the seats  earmarked for them.

“The KPCC leadership has time and again failed the UDF. When our local leaders approach the DCC leadership, they feign ignorance about the seat allocation,”  said the  leader.

The picture would be clear after the withdrawal of nominations  on October 17.
