Jagan Mohan Reddy put on fluids, fast ends
Senior officials asked Mr Reddy to call off the fast but he refused

Guntur: The police forcibly ended the indefinite hunger strike of YSR Congress president Y.S. Jagan Mohan Reddy early on Tuesday on the seventh day. He was shifted to the Government General Hospital here.
Mr Reddy was fasting to pressurise the Centre to grant special category status to AP as promised during state bifurcation. YSRC leaders who met Mr Reddy in the hospital in the evening said he had been put on IV fluids and was under observation for 24 hours.

YSRC leaders said the doctors had forcibly administered I.V. fluids despite a protest from their president Y.S. Jagan Mohan Reddy.
The drama started at 2 am as a large number of policemen led by ASP B. Bhaskar Rao gathered at the venue of the fast on Nallapadu Road here.
Senior officials asked Mr Reddy to call off the fast but he refused. The police waited till 4 am for YSRC leaders to fall asleep and then started their operation at 4.10 am. The police brought an ambulance and took him to hospital, where he was admitted to the ICU. En route, medical staff tried to give him primary treatment but he did not allow it.
Leaders and activists, who woke up, tried to stop the police who resorted to a mild lathi charge.
Doctors said Mr Reddy’s health was deteriorating and levels of ketone had increased to 4 plus and sugar levels had dropped to 65. His liver, kidney and heart would be affected if he continued fasting.
