Thondayad turns foodies’ delight

Many branded eateries vye for a spot along city street

KOZHIKODE: With business, shopping and major residential projects flourishing in the city, the Thondayad stretch leading to Ramanatukara, has turned into the  new eatery hotspot for Kozhikode denizens. In the last two to three months, more than ten eatery outlets have popped up in the stretch including those of Multi-National Company's.

Though earlier there were problems in the development in the stretch due to the advent of cyber parks and issues like road widening, it has all been sorted now.

Many more branded eatery stores and also local stores are vying with each other to set up their outlets because of the huge response of customers.

With prominent cafeterias like Café Coffee Day and Downtown brewing up success stories in the region within a short span of time and other eateries vying with each other to grab one’s attention, Thondayad Bypass stretch to Ramanattukara is a happening place in Kozhikode.

Some of the outlets that had woven success stories in this stretch include, Al- Bake, Pure South, Cochin Majlis, Copper Folio, Alibhai’s Thattukada, Central restaurant, Café Coffee Day, Downtown, Choco Tree, Naturals and Kumarakam hotel.

“The evenings are buzzing with activity especially for youngsters as these eatery outlets are giving us plenty of options for out taste buds,” said Sanoop Alex, a city resident.

“Some cafés offer mouth-watering chocolates, cakes, bakery items and other junk food to entice us and food court at Hilite Mall is one of them,” he added.
