Dravidian parties begin voters roll verification

 

In Chennai the recently appointed four AIADMK district secretaries have instructed ward secretaries and corporation councillors to look into the draft voters roll and help voters seeking corrections including the change of address within and outside the Assembly constituencies.

 

“We have already dispatched communications to all political parties and two meetings to discuss the corrections and verification in electoral rolls were conducted by all the district collectors. Copies of the draft rolls will also be handed over to the recognised political parties”, public elections department officials said. Party representatives have also started visiting all election returning offices, officials said.

 

“During the last two Sundays, booth level meetings were conducted and the party representatives will continue their assistance for the public by setting up help desks. These desks are set up near the counting centres, where the election officials are now conducting enumeration awareness camps for voters,” said AI ADMK district secretary North Chennai (south) Ku. Seenivasan. 

 

“Public response is amazing and they voluntarily discuss about free laptops, mixies grinders given by Amma at the party help desks set up at more than 200 polling centres on special camp days”, he added.

 

“This is a routine practice of major political parties and our district secretary M. Subramanian has listed out the party representatives to liaison with voters in south Chennai and the representatives have already completed the first phase of enumeration helping voters”, said M. Thulasi, a DMK functionary in Saidapet.
