Swami Saswathikananda death probe handed over to Crime Branch SP PK Madhu
Mr Madhu said he was yet to receive the government order
Kochi: Crime Branch Criminal Investigation Department (CBCID) ADGP (crimes) S. Ananthakrishnan handed over the investigation into the death of Swami Saswathikananda to Crime Branch SP P.K. Madhu.
Ernakulam City Police chief P. Dinesh was asked to submit a report on the possibility of re-investigation.
“The allegations raised are not new, and we have to examine the investigation report to analyse what was done. We also have to check if any new revelations were there. Depending upon the inquiry report, we will take a decision,” Mr Ananthakrishnan said.
Controversial hotelier Biju Ramesh had claimed that Swami was murdered by a professional killer called Priyan on the request of SNDP Yogam general secretary Vellappally Natesan.
Mr Madhu said he was yet to receive the government order. “Once I get the order, I may be able to know what kind of investigation the government expects,” he told DC.
Autopsy finds fresh wound
The post mortem report of Saswathikananda had said that there was a fresh wound just above the left eye brow of the monk. Interestingly, the crime branch did not mention anything about the injury or how he sustained it in its final report.
"A fresh grace abrasion of 2.5 cm over the left frontal area is seen," the post mortem report of Dr C Anila Kumari, the then Assistant Surgeon Government Hospital, Aluva, said. There were no other injuries on the body, the report said.
In the opinion column, Anil Kumari mentioned "post-mortem findings consistent with death due to drowning" - a normal usage for all drowning death cases.
