Hyderabad: The Special Investigation Team of Hyderabad police arrested a man from West Bengal said to be an associate of alleged Huji helper Md Nasir on Friday.

Police claimed that 28-ye-ar-old Alim-Ul-Islam Mandal had conspired with Nasir to start a Jihadi training camp. Mandal was arrested when he came to meet Nasir in Cherlapally jail.

A labourer from Dakshin Dinajpur district of West Bengal, Mandal had earlier worked with Nasir in a blanket factory in Panipat.

“They along with some others had decided to start a madrasa to impart jihadi training,” said a SIT official.

Nasir was arrested along with others on August 14 for his alleged links with banned terror outfits HujI and Indian Mujahideen. Nasir was also allegedly involved in facilitating illegal immigration from Bangladesh and Myanmar.

Police said Mandal was arrested in a case related to illegal immigrants from Bangladesh and Myanmar fraudulently obtaining Indian passports in Hyderabad.

"As part of investigations, a team was deputed to Cherlapally jail at regular intervals to keep a tab on persons coming to meet those arrested (during Mulaquaths) in this case as well as in other cases. Mandal came to meet Nasir and the team caught him," police said.
