KOZHIKODE: The A.P.J. Abdul Kalam Technological University, formerly Kerala Technological University, will plan internship programmes for students to boost their employment opportunities, its vice-chancellor Dr K.P. Isaac has said.
Responding to a query from a student during an interactive programme here on Saturday, he said the university would give prominence to practicals-oriented academics.
Selected students from various engineering colleges in the Malabar region took part in the interaction held at the Kerala Government Polytechnic College, providing them with a rare opportunity to interact directly with the VC and his team.
“We need to empower the youth with skills that promote knowledge and meaningful employment,” he said. The KTU is organising such events region-wise, and the first one was held in Thiruvananthapuram on Sep 19.
“The enthusiasm seen on the part of students after the conference is encouraging,” said Dr M. Abdul Rahman, the pro-VC.
“We have immense faith in this generation, and we are quite confident that they will significantly contribute towards building a skilled state. We will meet the students at least once in a year to get their feedback and address their genuine concerns.”
