Hyderabad: A four-year-old girl who went missing three days ago was found murdered in her neighbour’s house on Friday night in Sanath-nagar. The girl was strangled and her body was packed in a gunny bag and hidden in the neighbour’s house. Police suspect that a dispute between the two families led to the kidnap and murder of the child.

Lasya, 4, was the only daughter of carpenter Naveen Chary and his wife Mayuri. On Wednesday at around 8 pm Lasya was playing in front of their house. But when her mother came out she found Lasya missing. Her mother and Naveen searched the area in vain. On Thursday morning they lodged a complaint with police and a missing case was registered.

On Friday at around 11 pm Lasya’s parents and neighbours detected a foul smell coming from their neighbour Lakshmaiah’s house. When they searched the house they found a gunny bag in the kitchen loft.

“When they opened the bag they were shocked to see Lasya’s body in it with signs of throttling. We are investigating if any dispute between the families led to the murder,” said inspector K. Sudershan Reddy.

The parents and neighbours severely assaulted Lakshmaiah and his wife and they were shifted to Gandhi Hospital for treatment.  The parents alleged that Lakshmaiah killed their daughter.

"We will know the reasons, if Lakshmaiah and his wife can talk. We will question them once they become normal," the inspector said. A murder case was registered.
