Killer suspected murdered man had affair with his wife
Hyderabad: A residents welfare association president was axed to death in front of his family by his brother-in-law early on Saturday at Kushaiguda.
The victim, P. Srinivas, 47, was brought dead to hospital with three major injuries. The accused, whose name is also Srinivas, suspected a sexual relationship between his wife and the victim. The duo were drunk when the murder occurred.
The accused, G. Srinivas alias Ganni, 37, attacked the victim after he fell asleep. “He struck the victim three times with an axe. Three injuries, on the neck, shoulder and on the head, proved fatal,” said inspector N. Venkat Ramana.
When the assailant was attacking, the victim’s family, wife and two children, woke up and rushed to the room where the gory incident was taking place. After the murder Srinivas abandoned the weapon and ran away.
The incident occurred in the victim’s house in Kailasagiri Housing Board Colony after 2 am. The accused, Srinivas, had brought an axe with him and had hidden it in the house. “We suspect it was a planned murder. The accused had brought the axe to the house and hid it before they started drinking alcohol,” said the inspector.
The victim was president of the Kailasagiri Housing Board Colony Resident Welfare Assoc-iation and a contractor. He was an intermediary between the accused Srinivas and his wife when they had a fight.
“The killer and his wife fell out a year after marriage. Since some months she is living with her family. Earlier, the victim had tried to patch up the couple, but failed. Meanwhile, the accused started suspecting that his wife and the victim was in a sexual relationship,” said the inspector. Police booked a murder case and started a manhunt for the killer.
