Amaravati fete: Hopes high on package announcement by Narendra Modi
CPI says special status will be more helpful than package
Guntur: Expectations are high about announcement of a special package to the state by Prime Minister Narendra Modi when he would attend the Amaravati foundation programme on Oct. 22.
People and political leaders in the state are expecting that Mr Modi would make an announcement about the package at the foundation programme. Already the BJP and TD leaders are publicising about special package, leaving the special category status aside.
Sources in BJP said leaders of their party were eyeing to be the main party in the state and to achieve this, there is a possibility of announcing a special package to AP, as given to Bihar. Public visiting the venue to see the arrangements at the venue were found discussing about the announcement of special package by the Prime Minister on Oct. 22.
The recent seven-day Special Category Status Deeskha of YSR Congress president Y.S. Jagan Mohan Reddy at Guntur created awareness among the public about SCS and its benefits.

The Deeksha was successful as the public, mainly students and youth, supported him. The TD leaders held many press meets and fumed at Mr Jagan for staging a Deeksha but they could not stop the public from supporting him.
The support to Jagan’s Deeksha worried the TD cadres and the BJP activists too, who are planning to strengthen the party as the main political party in AP by 2019.
CPI state secretary K. Ramakrishna said that the BJP-led union government was trying to close the matter by just announcing a special package, just as did with the case of Bihar recently, but not according SCS to the AP.
Further, he alleged that the TD has colluded with the BJP. “The TD would prepare a draft like that done in Bihar and forward it the union government seeking special package.
“Mr. Modi will announce the same amount when he attends the Amaravati foundation ceremony on October 22.”
“Special package will not help the state emerge out of the financial crisis and become a developed state. Only SCS will be helpful for AP.”
Mr. Ramakrishna appealed to all the political parties to explain about the need for SCS to AP and mount pressure on Mr. Modi during the foundation programme.
A senior politician of Guntur, who joined the BJP recently, said failure in fulfilling the promise of SCS will leave a bad impression about NDA in AP people’s mind, who have lost wealthy capital of Hyderabad during split. “This will help the Opposition Congress and YSR Congress to flay the BJP-led NDA.”
