Hyderabad: The Andhra Pradesh state government is expecting a financial package more than the Rs 1.25 lakh crore package that Prime Minister Narendra Modi had announced for Bihar.

Sources added that the PM might announce infrastructure projects like converting some state highways into national highways, double and triple railway lines, tourism projects, funds for development of state roads etc. He may also announce some incentives for industries to be set up in AP.

However, the new railway zone, which the state government has been pushing for, is not in the Prime Minister’s agenda.

AP Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu had recently submitted a memorandum to Mr Modi asking for a special financial package and also special category status for AP.

While the PM wasn’t interested in the special category tag, he had assured a financial package that would benefit AP more than a special status would be extended.
