Post-tweets, Shatrughan Sinha meets Congress leader
It was just a social call, says Congress spokesperson
New Delhi: Congress leader Randeep Surjewala paid a “social call” on BJP MP Shatrughan Sinha, who is being sidelined by his own party.
From praising the BJP arch-rival in Bihar Nitish Kumar and questioning the BJP on issues to taking dig at the BJP-led NDA over soaring price of pulses, the actor-turned-politician has embarrassed his own party on several occasions lately.
Though his name is in the BJP’s “star campaigners” list for the Bihar polls, the state leadership has not sent any request for him to campaign.
Mr Surjewala, who met the BJP MP at the latter’s residence on Monday, tweeted, “I have deep regards for Shatrughan Sinha. Every personal relationship can’t be viewed from political prism. Hope media friends understand.” The Congress’ chief spokesperson said “it was just a social call”.
After his meeting with Mr Nitish Kumar, after which the BJP MP had described Mr Kumar as the “best CM the state has ever seen”, speculation had been rife that he could quit the saffron party.
