3 Governors, two Chief Ministers to join capital event

Hyderabad: The AP government has received confirmation that three Governors and two Chief Ministers apart from Prime Minister Narendra Modi would attend the foundation stone laying ceremony of the new capital city on October 22.

Governors K. Rosaiah (Tamil Nadu), Padmanabha Acharya (Assam and Nagaland) and E.S.L. Narasimhan (AP, TS) have confirmed their visit as has Punjab Chief Minister Prakash Singh Badal.

Reports from Hyderabad said Telangana Chief Minister K. Chandrasekhar Rao had also confirmed his participation.

AP general administration department secretary (Political) K. Satyanarayana said the government had received confirmation from Haryana Opposition leader Abhay Singh Choutala. The Prime Ministers of Singapore and Japan would not be attending the fete but would be sending their representatives.

AICC president Sonia Gandhi sent her greetings to the AP government ahead of the function. Responding to the invitation from the AP government, Ms Gandhi sent her wishes to the state government and to the people.
