Chain-snatchers strike again in Hyderabad
Attack women at three different places in city, gold chains robbed
Hyderabad: Chain-snatchers struck in the city repeatedly again and took away the gold chain from a woman on her usual morning walk in Ramnagar area Tuesday morning.
A housewife riding a two-wheeler with her husband was attacked the previous night. She fell down from the bike and was injured, but managed to hold onto her gold chain, police said.
Haritha, 40 and her husband Venkat, who live Chikkadpally, were returning from a relative’s house at Qutub Guda around 12.15am. They crossed the Qutub Guda Y junction and were heading towards the vegetable market. Two unidentified youths riding a black Pulsar came from behind and one of them laid his hands on her chain.
“ She tried to resist and fell from the bike, injuring her right elbow. She raised an alarm and the snatchers fled in the same direction,” said Sultan Bazar inspector Shivashankar Rao.
In the other incident, Anasuya, a 53-year-old housewife from East MCH Colony in Ramnagar area, was relieved of her two gold chains weighing around 5.5 tolas.
“She came for a morning walk at the YSR Park in East MCH Colony. While she was walking, two unidentified youths riding a bike came from behind and snatched away her gold chain.” said Musheerabad inspector Mohan Kumar.
Masked man attacks woman, robs gold chain
A masked chain-snatcher sprinkled chilli powder and escaped with a gold chain worn by an educational consultancy employee while she was at work in the office near the house of Union Minister Bandaru Dattatreya in Ramnagar on Tuesday.
“The victim, Smitha, 28 works with Education Foundation, near e-seva in Ramnagar. Around 4pm, while at work in the office, a masked man surfaced. Before she could react, he sprinkled chilli powder in her eyes, snatched away her gold chain weighing 2.5 tolas and fled the spot. It was so swift she could not even raise an alarm,” said Musheerabad detective inspector Santosh Kumar.
The incident happened nearly 500 meters away from the house of Dattatreya. Since the office next to her office was closed, nobody could notice the incident.
