Kochi: ‘Reachon Fastbuz’, the point-to-point courier service offered jointly by the Kerala State Road Transport Corporation (KSRTC) and Trackon Couriers Pvt Ltd, will start functioning on October 23.

A total of 3,727 KSRTC buses will be equipped with “courier boxes” in the initial stage including the multi-axle Volvo services to Bangalore. All KSRTC bus stations across the state will accommodate ‘couriers office’ for the purpose of consignment collection and delivery.

“Initially the services will be available in Kerala and Karnataka, and it will be extended to Tamil Nadu soon,” Trackon Kerala head P. V. Bipin said.

“We also plan to introduce door delivery facility within the next six months and till then the customers would have to deliver or receive the consignments from the nearest depot. The fact that it gives the consignment within hours of collection or mostly on the same day itself makes this parcel service unique.”

Within the state, the rate will be Rs 25 for up to 250 grams and Rs 50 for up to three-kg while it would be Rs 40 and Rs 75 respectively for delivering outside the state.

A mobile phone alert will be sent upon booking and at the time of delivery. Tracking apps will also be available on smartphones.

The KSRTC will get a minimum revenue of Rs two lakh a month for the service but would have no liability over losses during transport.
