Mystery behind Lasya murder solved, 3 held
The families had disputes from the time their houses were constructed
Hyderabad: The mystery behind the murder of four-year-old Lasya has been solved. Three neighbours –Yadagiri and Padma along with her brother Narasimha -- were arrested by police on Tuesday for their suspected involvement in the murder. Enmity between the families is seen as the reason for the murder.
Unraveling the murder plot, police said the accused abducted the child from near her house immediately after a mosquito fogging vehicle left the area covered with smoke.
Padma took the child to her house and with the help of other family members killed her by throttling her neck. After this, the three accused hid the body in the house.
Accused Yadagiri and Padma resided on the other side of the road. The families had disputes from the time their houses were constructed.
Police said Yadagiri had rented out his house and is staying in Kukatpally area, while Padma who lost her husband a few years ago is staying with her parents Laxmaiah and Yadamma and her brother Narasimha.
Lasya’s parents allegedly spread rumours in the area about an “illegal affair” Padma was having. All these aggravated the enmity between the families.
On October 14, while Lasya was playing in front of their house, the GHMC fogging vehicle came in, fogged the area and left the place around 8pm. The area was filled with smoke.
“Seeing this as a chance, Padma enticed the child to her home and with the help of her parents killed her. She later informed about this to her brother Narasimha and another neighbour Yadagiri. They tried to dispose of the body,” said Sanathnagar inspector K.Sudershan Reddy.
While Padma, Yadagiri and Narasimha were arrested and sent to judicial remand, parents Laxmaiah and Yadamma are undergoing treatment at a hospital, after they were bashed up by agitated people in the locality.
