Paris: World number one shuttler Saina Nehwal cruised into the second round of the French Open Super Series with a straight set win over Michelle Li in the women's singles contest on Wednesday.

The top-seeded Indian claimed a 21-18, 21-13 win over Canadian reigning Commonwealth Games champion Li in a contest that lasted 42 minutes.

In the men's singles, eighth seed Parupalli Kashyap claimed a 21-11, 22-20 win over resilient Thomas Rouxel to enter the second round.

Meanwhile, PV Sindhu, who reached her maiden Super Series final at the Denmark last week, will aim to continue her rampaging form when she will face Chinese fourth seed Wang Shixian later in the day.
