Chandrasekhar Rao announces houses for sub inspectors
CM was speaking at the Police Commemoration Day programme
Hyderabad: Chief Minister K. Chandrasekhar Rao has announced that SIs and officers ranked above them would be given houses at their place of posting. Personnel from the rank of constable to ASI would be allotted double bedroom flats. The CM was speaking at the Police Commemoration Day programme at Goshamahal in the city on Wednesday.
Home minister Nayani Narasimha Reddy said the government had paid ex-gratia to the families of the four police officials who were killed by SIMI in Nalgonda. He added the government had also paid compensation to the families of two other cops who were killed while fighting criminals in Hyderabad.
Speaking after paying tributes to martyrs, the CM said that his government was committed to the welfare of police personnel. “Traffic cops are exposed to a lot of pollution. So we will provide them health allowance, which will be 30 per cent of basic pay. Annual uniform allowance will also be increased from this year,” he said, adding that cops would get their promotions soon.
Mr Rao also said that the families of martyrs would be allotted land for houses and it would be exempted from registration fees. He asked the public to recognize the services of the police officials who had sacrificed their lives for upholding the law.
Speaking on the occasion, Telangana DGP Anurag Sharma said the state government had always been supportive in providing resources to the police force. "The department is receiving tremendous support from the government," he said, thanking the ministers.
Governor E.S.L. Narasimhan also paid tribute to police martyrs.
